Ghandruk (2,012 m), the queen of Gurung villages, is a living Himalayan postcard where perfectly preserved stone houses with slate roofs and carved wooden windows cascade down a sun-drenched hillside beneath the towering, ever-present presence of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and the sacred fishtail spire of Machhapuchhre. Often called the most beautiful village in Nepal, Ghandruk wraps you in centuries-old Gurung culture: prayer flags flutter above ancient chortens, grandmothers spin wool on porches, and the air carries the scent of pine, incense, and roasting millet.
In spring the hills blaze with rhododendron; in autumn the sky is an endless cobalt bowl. Museums showcase traditional costumes and war relics, teahouses serve honey straight from the comb, and every balcony offers a front-row seat to sunrise igniting the Annapurnas in molten gold. Whether you arrive exhausted from the long descent from Ghorepani or start your Annapurna trek here, Ghandruk feels like the mountains themselves opened their arms and welcomed you home—timeless, proud, and impossibly beautiful.
We’re committed to offering more than just products—we provide exceptional experiences.
A stunning, large Gurung village at 2,012 m, widely regarded as Nepal’s most beautiful traditional settlement and a highlight of any Annapurna trek.
Jaw-dropping close-up views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail)—some of the best mountain panoramas on the entire Annapurna circuit.
October–November (crystal skies, golden harvest) and March–April (rhododendrons everywhere, perfect weather). Sunrise and sunset light on the peaks is magical.
Popular but never overwhelming. Peak season 50–150 trekkers/night, yet the village is big enough to feel peaceful and authentic.
Dozens of excellent teahouses and lodges—many with hot showers, Wi-Fi, and balconies facing the mountains. Some of the best food on the trail (try the local honey and Gurung bread).
Visit the Gurung Museum and old monastery, watch traditional dance performances, sip tea on flower-filled terraces, photograph slate-roofed houses, and just stare at Machhapuchhre all day.
Most people overnight once, but two nights is perfect—one to rest and explore, one to wake up to that sunrise view again.
“If you only see one village in Nepal, make it Ghandruk—stone houses, smiling people, and Machhapuchhre so close you feel you can touch it.”
